LAFC's 2022 U.S. Open Cup campaign began on April 20 with a 5-1 win against Div. II side Orange County SC (USL Championship) in the Third Round at then Banc of California Stadium. Danny Musovski and Chicho Arango both hit braces while Cal Jennings nabbed the final tally.
Then came a 2-0 victory against the Portland Timbers in the Round of 32 on May 10 in which Arango and Mamadou Fall sealed progression at home.
Alas, LAFC exited the competition in the Round of 16 on May 25 at the hands of the Galaxy, who won 3-1 in Carson.
