LAFC2 has confirmed its roster for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season, which kicked off on Sunday, March 9, against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Titan Stadium.
In addition to the MLS NEXT Pro season, LAFC2 will compete in the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup competition after LAFC brought home the trophy last year.
The club will continue to host its home matches – including U.S. Open Cup matches – at Titan Stadium, located on the campus of California State University, Fullerton.
The 2025 roster features 12 players signed to MLS NEXT Pro contracts, including key returners and LAFC Academy products Matt Evans, Decarlo Guerra, Christian Diaz, Bryan Moyado, and Josh Santiago, as well as Marius Aiyenero.
New signings joining the club in 2025 include goalkeeper Cabral Carter, defenders Deryk Jones Jr. and Erick Díaz, and forwards Alec Hughes (LAFC 2025 MLS SuperDraft pick), Sebastian Nava, and Kairo Walters.
Carter, 20, joins LAFC2 after two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, where he played a critical role in the team advancing to two consecutive College Cups (2023, 2024), and reaching the quarterfinal in 2024. A native of Los Angeles, California, Carter was available on the bench seven times for Las Vegas Lights in the 2022 USL Championship, but did not see any action.
Jones, 23, joins the Black & Gold most recently from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where he played one season, appearing in 12 matches (12 starts), recording four goals and three assists in 816 minutes played. Prior to CSUN, the Slidell, Louisiana, native spent three seasons at the University of Portland, making his debut in 2023. Jones appeared in four matches for the Pilots.
Díaz, 19, joins LAFC2 from Tauro FC of Panama’s Liga Panameña de Fútbol, where he spent three seasons, appearing in 16 matches (12 starts), with a total of 1,051 minutes played. Internationally, Díaz has appeared for Panama at the U-17, U-20, and senior national team levels. He made his senior national team debut on Aug. 27, 2023, in an international friendly against Bolivia.
Nava, 22, joins LAFC2 most recently from the University of Portland, where he spent four seasons and helped lead the team to two consecutive College Cup berths (2022, 2023). The Wilmington, California, native appeared in 75 matches total for the Pilots (66 starts), recording 14 goals and 25 assists in 6,035 minutes played. Prior to his time in Portland, Nava spent time with LA Galaxy II, appearing in 22 matches in the USL Championship across two seasons (2020, 2021), registering two assists.
Walters, 19, joins the club from CD Plaza Amador of Panama’s Liga Panameña de Fútbol, where he appeared in 21 matches (19 starts) from 2024-2025, registering two goals in 1,694 minutes played. Prior to that, Walters played for Potros del Este (2022-2023), where he appeared in 35 matches (14 starts), registering two goals and one assist in 1,472 minutes played. At the national team level, Walters has represented Panama’s U-20 and U-23 teams. He tallied one goal and one assist at the Concacaf U-20 Championships in July 2024.
The matchday rosters will also include call-ups from the LAFC Academy and may feature select LAFC first team players.
