LAFC2 played to a 1-1 draw with Colorado Rapids 2 in MLS NEXT Pro league action, while also earning an additional point by winning the penalty shootout on Sunday evening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Forward Adrian Wibowo capitalized on a first-half opportunity to give the Black & Gold a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute. Rapids 2 midfielder Marlon Vargas scored the equalizer in the 75th with a goal from the penalty spot.
Midfielder Erik Dueñas sealed the penalty shootout for a 4-3 win after LAFC2 goalie David Ochoa saved one shot and Colorado sent another over the crossbar.
LAFC2 remains undefeated at 3W-0L-1D (8 points) to start the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, and next takes on Tacoma Defiance at Starfire Sports Complex on Sunday, April 7. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PST.
