Ventura County took the lead in the 15th minute through a goal by midfielder David Díaz. LAFC2 forward Adrian Wibowo equalized in the 31st minute, marking his seventh goal of the season.
After full time, the Black & Gold lost 5-4 in the penalty shootout, missing out on the extra point that is awarded per MLS NEXT Pro rules to penalty-shootout winners.
