LAFC2 claimed a 2-1 victory over rival Ventura County FC on Sunday evening at William Rolland Stadium on the California Lutheran University campus.
The Black & Gold took the lead in the 40th minute with Christian Diaz’s first goal of the season. Luis Müller then extended LAFC2’s advantage in the 56th minute, scoring his second goal in as many games.
Axel Essengue helped pull one goal back for VCFC (the LA Galaxy’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate) in the 62nd minute, but the comeback fell short in front of the Ventura home crowd as LAFC2 goalkeeper David Ochoa made six saves on the night.
LAFC2 improves to 10W-6L-4D (36 points), and next takes on the Portland Timbers 2 at Titan Stadium on Friday, August 16. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
