LAFC2 defeated the Portland Timbers2 in a thrilling 3-2 comeback on Saturday afternoon at Providence Park in Portland. This victory earned the Black & Gold a first-ever berth in the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
Portland opened the scoring in the first half with goals from Noah Santos (16th minute) and Mataeo Bunbury (24’).
LAFC2 responded in the second half with goals from Adrian Wibowo (55th minute) and Luis Müller (72’). Javier Hernandez then secured the victory with a dramatic stoppage-time goal to secure the important win for LAFC2.
The Black & Gold improves to 12W-7L-6D (45 points), and next takes on the Real Monarchs at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California, on Monday, September 23. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
