LAFC, L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and the California Secretary of State’s office today announced that Banc of California Stadium will serve as an L.A. County voting center for the Presidential General Election. County residents will have the opportunity to vote in-person or drop off Vote by Mail ballots at the world-class venue located in the Heart of Los Angeles.

“In these unique times, LAFC  remains committed to being a Force For Good in Los Angeles,” LAFC President and Co-Owner Tom Penn said. “We are proud to have the opportunity to step up and provide our stadium as a safe, secure and accessible regional voting center, and we look forward to working with the Secretary of State and Los Angeles County to host voters this fall.”

This partnership will allow thousands of voters to cast their ballots for the upcoming election while maintaining CDC-recommended social distancing requirements at the state-of-the-art venue. L.A. County will also conduct additional election support operations at Banc of California Stadium, including Vote by Mail ballot processing and more.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Los Angeles Football Club. We are thankful for their commitment to civic engagement and voter enfranchisement. Hosting a Vote Center at the Banc of California Stadium allows us to meet public health standards for physical distancing while ensuring voters have access to in-person voting options in the Presidential election. In uncertain times, it is collaborations such as this that demonstrate the spirit of community and the strength of our democracy. We hope others will follow their example,” said Dean C. Logan, L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

Establishing Banc of California Stadium as a voting venue is part of the Club’s commitment for being a force for good in the L.A. community. In addition to hosting a voting location, LAFC will work in partnership with the California Secretary of State’s Office and Los Angeles County in driving messaging about voter registration, candidate information, voter education, volunteer information and more.

“Los Angeles Football Club hosting an L.A. County vote center at Banc of California Stadium is invaluable as we confront the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Secretary of State Alex Padilla said.  "We are thrilled that LAFC is the first Major Soccer League team to partner with us in California. The GOAL is to ensure that voters can Vote Safe throughout the county.  As we work to identify new voting locations, poll workers and educate the public on the changes to the November General Election my hope is that this partnership inspires others to join us in building an inclusive democracy.”

“Voting is one of our most fundamental rights and we must do all we can to make sure our communities can vote safely and confidently, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas said. “I applaud LAFC for stepping up and standing in the gap to be that place for the community, by making their stadium available as a voting location—which will accommodate physical distancing protocols and handle all the new voting equipment. This will be a central and accessible and safe place where people can choose to drop off their mail-in-ballot or vote in-person."
