Brian Rodríguez was introduced as LAFC's third Designated Player on Sunday before LAFC took on the New York Red Bulls at Banc of California Stadium.

“We knew we were heading into this window with an empty Designated Player spot. It’s a great position to be in. You can be very selective and only make the move if it does make sense in the short, medium, and long term," LAFC GM and EVP John Thorrington told reporters after introducing Rodríguez. "We felt when we weighed things up that Brian [Rodriguez] did and so I have to give a lot of credit to multiple people in the organization starting with our scouts and technical staff.”

Rodríguez joins LAFC from Uruguayan powerhouse Peñarol, the same club Diego Rossi played for before coming to Los Angeles. On his first visit to LAFC's home stadium, Rodríguez toured the facility, spoke to the media, and was introduced to fans via prior to the match.

“There were other opportunities in other countries, but this is a great opportunity, the club is fantastic, the city is fantastic, and the style of play," Rodríguez answered when asked why he chose LAFC.

The fourth Designated Player in LAFC history, Rodríguez now awaits the approval of his P1 Visa before he can join his teammates in full training. While the paperwork is being processed, the forward will remain with the team while training on his own. The Club is hopeful the entire process will be completed in a timely manner, which will allow Rodríguez time to train with his teammates and prepare for LAFC's final stretch of the season.
