You line those balls up a million different ways in that MLS Is Back Tournament draw and I bet it still comes out the same. Not only did LAFC draw the Galaxy from the start but we rounded out the group with the Portland Timbers.
No disrespect to the Houston Dynamo. We know them well. We've even had some memorable matches with them - the rain-delay match and the Supporters' Shield clincher. But our rivalries with the Galaxy and the Timbers go a little bit deeper.
Of course, the Galaxy won't want to remember the last time we faced off. They'll fall back on their record in the regular season. But what happened when it mattered? The chance to possibly send them packing once again is intriguing.
As for Portland... what can I say about the Timbers? Let's just put it this way, they've done everything in their power to cement themselves as a formidable No. 2 when it comes to rivalries. On and off the pitch, we just don't seem to like each other. It's not a rivalry anyone in MLS probably could have predicted but it's very real.
So, there it is. Right out the gate, Group F has some interesting storylines. And once the matches start, I'm sure we'll get even more from this group. All we know for sure is that we'll be watching!
