LAFC announced today that the Club has acquired Mexican goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega from Real Sociedad of Spain’s La Liga. Sisniega, 23, will be added to LAFC’s roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.

“Pablo is a young and exciting goalkeeper with a bright future ahead of him,” said General Manager and EVP of Soccer Operations John Thorrington. “He will bring valuable experience from his time in Spain and add depth and competition to the group.”

Since making his debut for Real Sociedad B in 2014, Sisniega registered a 12-11-15 record in 38 matches across all competitions, including a career-high 21 appearances during the 2016/17 campaign. In all, Sisniega recorded 14 clean sheets and a 1.03 goals against average in 3,420 minutes logged.

Prior to emigrating to Spain and joining Sociedad’s academy, Sisniega spent time climbing the youth ranks of Liga MX giants C.D. Guadalajara, as well as Philadelphia Union’s development teams.

Born in Mexico City, the 6-foot-3 goalkeeper also holds United States and Germany citizenships, and will not occupy an international slot on LAFC’s roster. His parents, Ivar Sisniega and Cristina Fink, combined for five appearances at four Summer Olympic Games (1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992). His father competed as a modern pentathlete and was the flag bearer for Mexico at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, while his mother also represented Mexico in the high jump.
