LAFC announced today that it has loaned four players to Phoenix Rising FC of the USL Championship – defenders Tristan Blackmon and Shaft Brewer Jr., midfielder Javier Perez and forward Josh Pérez.
Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreements, LAFC retains the right to recall the players at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Brewer Jr., Blackmon and Josh Pérez all spent time with Phoenix last season. Blackmon started all eight regular season matches he played in, as well as three of the team’s four playoff games, including the USL Championship. Brewer Jr. played in 10 contests (three starts) and two postseason contests, while Pérez appeared in one game during his brief stint in USL.
This will be Javier Perez’s first loan spell in the USL Championship. The 22-year-old Spanish midfielder signed with the Black & Gold on March 10 after being selected 64th overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by LAFC.
