Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) announced today that the Club has selected former Real Salt Lake forward Ricky Lopez-Espin with the 15th selection in the 2018 MLS Waiver Draft.
Lopez-Espin, who was selected in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake, made his lone regular season appearance in RSL’s 2-0 loss against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on April 28. He also tallied two assists in eight games for USL’s Real Monarchs.
Prior to MLS, Lopez-Espin spent four years at Creighton University, tallying 30 goals and seven assists in 74 collegiate appearances.
The Waiver Draft included players ineligible for Re-Entry or Free Agency and either A) are out of contract and have not been issued a Genuine Offer or B) have not had their 2019 options exercised.
