LAFC announced today that the Club has acquired midfielder Mateusz Bogusz on a permanent transfer from Leeds United, signing him to a four-year contract through 2026 with a Club option for 2027. Bogusz will be added to LAFC’s roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
Bogusz, 21, joins LAFC from Leeds United of the English Premier League. Over the past two seasons, Bogusz appeared in 42 matches for UD Ibiza of the Spanish Segunda Division on loan from Leeds, where he scored a total of six goals and registered five assists in over 2,500 minutes.
“Mateusz is a talented young player with great ability who will provide another quality piece to our Club,” LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington said. “He is a dynamic and exciting attacker who has the ability to help our group in our ambitions to win more trophies. I am excited to welcome Mateusz to Los Angeles.”
A native of Ruda Śląska, Poland, Bogusz began his career in the youth system of Polish Club Ruch Chorzow before making his professional debut in the top Polish leauge in 2018 at the age of 16. The midfielder moved to Leeds United in January 2019 and helped the Under-23 squad win the PDL Northern League as well as the national Professional Development League.
The Polish youth international made his first-team debut for Leeds on Aug. 27, 2019 in an EFL Cup match. Bogusz was loaned to Spanish Segunda Division club Logrones in 2020-21 where he scored one goal and registered one assist in 23 matches before joining Ibiza on loan for the 2021-2022 season.
Bogusz has represented his country at the youth international level, including the U-21 squad. He was a member of the Polish U-20 team at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
