Time to get out the vote once again.

Carlos Vela is one of 16 MLS players nominated for this year's Latino del Año award. The contest is put on by FutbolMLS.com each year to crown the best Latino player in MLS as voted by the fans. And the first round has already begun.

In 2018, Vela led LAFC to an expansion-team record 57 points. The Mexican international finished 2018 with 14 goals and 13 assists. Fans can vote for Vela in the first round simply by tweeting #VotoPorVela.

Created in 2010, Latino del Año is FutbolMLS.com's annual contest to elect the best Latino player in MLS, based on fans voting. All MLS Players born in a Latin American country or those who were born in the United States but have Hispanic roots are eligible to participate.

The Top 16 Latino MLS Players are selected, ranked and seeded in brackets by FutbolMLS.com/MLSsoccer.com/UnivisionDeportes.com editors and fans will decide which players advance to the subsequent rounds.

The voting process is held online, and fans have a 24-hour window to vote for their favorite players on each stage of the contest: a) Top 16 Latino MLS Players, b) Top 8 Latino MLS Players, c) Top 4 Latino MLS Players, which is the final stage that decides the winner.
