You know it was a big week for MLS when a brace can only get you on the bench for Team of the Week.
For the second week in a row, Carlos Vela's name was on the MLS Team of the Week teamsheet. His two goals in NYC were only enough to get him named to the bench though, as Wayne Rooney, Ignacio Piatti, and Alberth Elis took the starting spots.
Vela has been a talisman for LAFC thus far this season. The Black & Gold have seven points from three matches and are yet to lose in the 2019 MLS season. Vela's three goals and two assists in those matches have been a big reason for the best three-match start in Club history.
Here's how the rest of the MLS Team of the Week after Matchday 3 lined up:
F: Piatti (MTL), Rooney (DC), Elis (HOU)
M: Lletget (LA), Moreno (DC), Lodeiro (SEA), Muyl (RBNY)
D: Sauro (CLB), Robinson (ATL), Jara (DC)
GK: Richey (CIN)
Bench: Steffen (CLB), Waston (CIN), Rodriguez (HOU), Ulloa (CIN), Akinola (TOR), Morris (SEA), Vela (LAFC)
Coach: Koch (CIN)
