After a 3-0 win on the road at L.D. Alajuelense in Concacaf Champions League on Thursday, the Black & Gold will now be tested with a quick turnaround and face the New England Revolution on Sunday, March 12 at BMO Stadium.
This will be the third-ever MLS matchup between the two clubs with LAFC having the upper hand with a 2-0 win in 2019 and the other matchup ending in a 1-1 draw in 2018.
The matchup will be a reunion on the pitch and in the stands as midfielder Latif Blessing will return to BMO stadium for the first time since lifting the MLS Cup in November. Blessing joined LAFC through the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft, which made him a member of the 2018 inaugural team.
The New England Revolution are currently tied for first place in the Eastern Conference Standings with six points through two games played.

REVOLUTION IN-DEPTH
Led by head coach Bruce Arena, the Revs are looking to looking to turn things around in 2023 after missing the playoffs in 2022. The Revs had won the Supporters Shield in 2021 and were eliminated in their first playoff game by New York City FC.
The Revs defense has yet to allow a goal scored this season as they have shut out their opponents with a combined score of 4-0 through their first two matches.
This is the first-time in club history that the Revs have won their first two games to start the season.
The team has seen goals and assists from midfielder Dylan Borrero, defender Brandon Bye, and forward Bobby Wood.
LAFC WILL WIN IF
They can overcome the challenge of a quick turnaround. The Black & Gold get just two days of recovery and preparation in-between matches. A comfortable late-game lead at L.D. Alajuelense allowed us to see what Stipe Biuk, Sergi Palencia, and Timothy Tillman can do with the ball at their feet, which may be the depth pieces LAFC will need to lean on to keep the momentum going.
REVOLUTION CAN WIN IF
They can ride in with the momentum they have built through their two first games. The Revs are great at stretching the field and will take advantage of wide spaces. They will look to take advantage of LAFC’s short preparation and hope to expose LAFC on counter attacks. Having four goals and assists from four different players in different positions makes anyone in the Revs XI dangerous.
