LAFC fell 2-1 to the Seattle Sounders in extra time of the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Semifinal.
The Black & Gold took the lead just after halftime when Mateusz Bogusz picked out the run of Hollingshead into the heart of the Seattle penalty area. The LAFC wingback hit a low, one-time shot into the lower left corner to make it 1-0 for the home side in the 50th minute.
Seattle was gifted the equalizer nine minutes later on a Maxime Chanot own goal - the LAFC defender unable to sort out his feet on a low cross to the near post was unfortunate to see his attempted clearance sneak just inside the left post. It was a harsh twist of fate for the defender, who had earlier cleared a Seattle shot off the goal line just before halftime.
Jordan Morris scored the game winner in the 109th minute on a goal-mouth scramble after a Seattle corner kick.
LAFC concludes its 2024 season with a 19-8-7 record in the regular season and runs to the final of both the Leagues Cup and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which the Black & Gold won for the first time in club history.
