Carlos Vela had a 2018 to remember.
In his first season in MLS, the Mexican international led LAFC to an expansion-team record of 57 points and a third-place finish in the Western Conference. Along the way, he was named captain of the 2018 MLS All-Star Team. Vela's team-high 14 goals and 13 assists earned him an MLS Best XI nod. And he topped the Audi MLS Player Index rankings for 2018.
Oh, and he helped Mexico to a shock 1-0 victory over defending World Cup champions Germany as El Tri advanced to the second round of the tournament in Russia.
As a result, Vela is one of 10 nominees for the Concacaf Male Player of the Year.
The award's winner will be selected by a vote made up of Concacaf members, media, and fans. Voting is open now and runs until Jan. 8.
