The city of Los Angeles is kicking off the festivities leading up to LAFC's home opener by declaring Friday, April 27 as "LAFC Day."
Councilmember Curren Price of LA's District 9 will lead the way, officially brining the motion to the LA City Council floor at their meeting on Friday morning. LAFC President and Co-owner Tom Penn will be in attendance to accept the honor as the city council proclaims "LAFC Day" to be official.
To celebrate, 10 landmarks throughout LA will be illuminated in Black & Gold starting at 7pm PST to celebrate Club's inaugural season and upcoming home opener against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday.

Los Angeles City Hall

Standing 32 stories high in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the LA City Hall was finished in 1928. Built with sand from each of LA's 58 counties, the building houses an office for the mayor and the city council chambers are located here.
Los Angeles Convention Center

Opened in 1971, the LA Convention Center has been the site of numerous annual events. It is also the future site of events for the 2028 Olympics.
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

The largest railroad passenger terminal in the West, Union Station was built in 1939. Around 110,000 passengers a day go through this bustling hub in downtown LA.

Towering over the LA skyline is US Bank Tower. The 1,018-foot skyscraper is located on Fifth Street in downtown LA. Featured in numerous movies, the building's glass crown is illuminated for special occasions and will be Black & Gold for "LAFC Day."

Los Angeles International Airport

Nearly 75 million passengers pass through LAX each year. A 1.5-mile stretch leading to the airport's entrance is flanked by illuminated pylons ranging in height from 25 to 60 feet. On Friday night, the pylons will be Black & Gold.

The architects behind Banc of California Stadium, Gensler has over 3,500 clients spanning the globe. To honor LAFC, the company's LA office will be illuminated in Black & Gold at sundown on Friday.
