Zimmerman Goes 90 In USMNT Draw

Zimmerman With USMNT Prior To Bosnia Match 2018 IMG

Walker Zimmerman earned his second international cap going whistle-to-whistle in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday.

Playing in their first match of 2018, the U.S. Men's National Team was unable to find a goal as they struggled at times through a 0-0 draw.

The first player in LAFC history to be called in to the USMNT, Zimmerman partnered with debutant Ike Opara in the center of the U.S. backline. Along with fullbacks Justin Morrow and Matt Polster, Opara and Zimmerman frustrated Bosnia-Herzegovina early with key tackles and interceptions, while looking confident playing out of the back.

The LAFC defender would have a nervy moment in the second half when winger Luka Menalo was taken down just inside the U.S. penalty area. While it appeared Menalo fouled U.S. midfielder Will Trapp just before being bungled to the ground by Zimmerman, the referee awarded a penalty to Bosnia-Herzegovina. The USMNT's clean sheet would remain intact, however, as Haris Medunjanin would slam his shot into the left upright.

Zimmerman's appearance with the USMNT was his first since taking 'Man of the Match' honors in a 1-0 win over Jamaica in February of 2017. The center back would finish the match wearing the captain's armband after Trapp was substituted in the 83rd minute.
