Carlos Vela, the first Designated Player in Los Angeles Football Club history marks another first for the club today, becoming the first LAFC player to be featured on a national magazine cover. The Mexican National Team star can be found today on the cover of ESPN Deportes. Fans can get their own copy by picking up a copy of La Opinion or at newsstands everywhere.
“I chose MLS because LAFC made me feel important,” Vela says in the interview with Evaristo Lara, in which he details why the dynamic, 28-year old attacker will continue his career in Los Angeles at Banc of California Stadium beginning in 2018.
Currently playing for Real Sociedad of Spain’s La Liga, Vela will join LAFC for pre-season training beginning in January, 2018.
“We know that Carlos is the right player at the right time for our club,” LAFC Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations John Thorrington said. “He is an exciting, skilled player that captures peoples imaginations on a national and a international scale, and this is a perfect example of that.”
