In the final international matches of 2018, LAFC had three players in action.
Walker Zimmerman, André Horta, and Luis López were all in the starting 11 for their respective countries on Tuesday. Unfortunately, all three of their efforts were in losing causes.
Zimmerman started as part of a center-back trio for U.S. Men's National Team in its match with Italy. Despite holding the Italians scoreless through 90 minutes, the USMNT eventually fell 1-0 thanks to a 95th-minute goal from Matteo Politano. The LAFC defender went the distance in the match and contributed on both ends of the pitch having the USMNT's only shot on target against the Azzurri.
For Horta, a 3-1 defeat of his U21 Portugal at the hands of Poland knocked his team out of contention for one of the final U21 EURO 2019 spots. Portugal entered the match with a 1-0 lead on aggregate thanks to a victory in Poland. Horta played 77 minutes in the defeat as Poland advanced 3-2 on aggregate.
It was a similarly rough day for López. The goalkeeper started in net for Honduras before being substituted in the 87th minute. By that time, Los Catrachos' opponent Chille had scored four goals including two penalties. Honduras managed to pull just one goal back, falling 4-1 in its final match of 2018.
