The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) kicks off its locally televised broadcast schedule this Friday, April 13 when the Club travels to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps FC at 7:00 pm PT live on YouTube TV and UniMás KFTR 46 (Spanish).
LAFC games locally broadcast on YouTube TV will feature Lead Broadcaster Max Bretos joined on the call by a different, nationally-recognized soccer personality each game. The “Max +1” platform will give viewers an innovative and unique perspective to the broadcast with rotating color analysts, starting with U.S. Men’s National Team legend and current FOX Sports broadcaster Alexi Lalas this Friday against the Whitecaps FC.
A few of the “Max +1” analysts featured on the broadcast will be former Jamaican international and current NBC Sports studio analyst Robbie Earle, former English midfielder and current NBC Sports commentator Robbie Mustoe, two-time MLS Cup winner and current FOX Sports commentator Stu Holden, two-time Olympic gold medalist and FOX Soccer announcer Angela Hucles, former English defender and current FOX Sports analyst Warren Barton, and former Liga MX and MLS defender and current FOX Deportes analyst Mariano Trujillo.
The LAFC pre and post-game show will air 30 minutes prior to and immediately following all matches on YouTube TV, with Mark Rogondino serving as the host from the YouTube TV Studio set at Banc of California Stadium, and Gevrina Catalina functioning as the Club’s Sideline Reporter at every home and away contest on YouTube TV.
“The LAFC broadcast will be a unique and inclusive shared experience,” said LAFC Lead Broadcaster Max Bretos. “Our goal is to call the action and inform – and make sure while we are doing that to have a good time. We welcome you all to join us.”
A native of Southern California, Rogondino’s 17-year resume includes commentary for some of the top soccer leagues and tournaments in the world, including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and Major League Soccer. A former San Diego State University goalkeeper, “Rogo” began his broadcasting career as the play-by-play voice of the 2000 San Diego Sockers. In addition to calling the “beautiful game”, Rogondino has covered a variety of local and professional sports, including the NHL, NBA, Arena Football, and high school football.
Rogondino joins LAFC after serving as the host for Clippers Live pre and post-game shows the past three seasons, as well as the lead play-by-play announcer for the Galaxy’s TWC broadcast team.
Catalina, a first-generation Colombian-Yugoslavian, rounds out YouTube TV’s on-air talent as the sideline reporter for the 2018 season. Prior to joining LAFC, Catalina also served as the West Coast reporter for Hoy Deportes, as well as host of “El Arte De Ganar” on Fox Deportes. A former Division-1 athlete at UCLA, Catalina has also worked as a reporter for Nike and ESPNw.
LAFC’s first regular season match of the 2018 campaign broadcast locally on YouTube TV and UniMás KFTR 46, as well as on ESPNLA 710 AM (English) and KFWB 980 AM ‘La Mera La Mera’ (Spanish), will take place this Friday, April 13 (7:00 p.m. PT) against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place.
