LAFC announced that the Club has loaned defender Mamadou Fall to Villareal CF of Spain’s La Liga. The loan, which begins immediately, runs through June, 2023. LAFC retains the right to recall the player.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Mamadou, and one that we felt was right at this stage of his career,” LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington said. “He is an incredible prospect with great potential who now has the chance to develop further at a top European club. We will be monitoring his progress closely and wish him all the best with Villareal.”
Fall joined LAFC at the age of 18 on June 4, 2021, from the Soccer Institute of Montverde Academy in Orlando, FL.
The Senegal native appeared in a total of 35 regular season matches for the Black & Gold (29 starts) over two seasons, scoring five goals. This season, Fall made 16 regular season appearances (13 starts) and scored his lone goal in stoppage time to equalize the match vs. Portland on March 6 at Banc of California Stadium.
In 2021, Fall also made eight appearances and played a total of 634 minutes while on loan with LAFC’s USL affiliate club, the Las Vegas Lights.
Prior to joining the Black & Gold, Fall attended the Soccer Institute of Montverde Academy in Orlando, FL and was a teammate of 2020 LAFC signee Mohamed Traore. Like Traore, Fall made his way to Orlando via Salif Diao's Sport4Charity Organization based out of Dakar, Senegal, and was selected to the Senegal U17 Youth National Team in 2019.
