LAFC announced today that the Club has re-signed defenders Jordan Harvey and Dejan Jaković ahead of the 2020 season. The veteran defenders return for a third season with the Black & Gold with a combined 445 MLS appearances.

“Jordan and Dejan have been consummate professionals since joining the Club and we’re pleased to have re-signed both players,” said General Manager and EVP of Soccer Operations John Thorrington. “They provide an invaluable veteran presence in the locker room, and their level of experience and dedication have been crucial to the team’s success the past two years.”

An LAFC original, Harvey enjoyed another standout season in 2019, appearing in 30 MLS contests (28 starts) and surpassing the 2,000-minute mark for the seventh consecutive season, and ninth in his MLS career. The 14-year veteran tallied one goal and a career-best five assists while helping LAFC allow the fewest goals in MLS with 37. He also appeared in both playoff games, as well as all three U.S. Open Cup contests.

Since joining LAFC in 2018, Harvey has played in 59 regular season matches (51 starts), logging 4,506 minutes, the fifth-highest total in Club history.  With 27,454 career MLS minutes played, Harvey ranks 15th all-time and is fifth among active players. In all, the 35-year-old has appeared in 329 MLS matches (307 starts), the 26th highest total in MLS history, while notching 12 goals and 21 assists.

In two seasons with the Black & Gold, Jaković has seen action in 18 regular-season games (15 starts) and two U.S. Open Cup matches. He also came on as a substitute during the 5-3 win over the Galaxy, playing the final 16 minutes of the 2019 Western Conference Semifinal.

Prior to joining LAFC, Jaković spent time with the New York Cosmos (2017), Japan’s Shimizu S-Pulse (2014-16), D.C. United (2009-13), and Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade (2008). At the international stage, Jaković has 41 caps with the Canadian National Team, including appearances at the 2009, 2015 and 2017 Concacaf Gold Cups.
