The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) announced today the signing of goalkeeper Quillan Roberts to the Club’s supplemental roster. Roberts officially signs with LAFC after joining the first team during the 2018 preseason.

“Quillan has been with us since the start of camp and has shown a great deal of improvement over the past few months,” said LAFC EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager John Thorrington. “We’re confident that he will be able to complement and strengthen our goalkeeping core for the remainder of the season.”

Last season, Roberts, 23,  was named League1 Ontario’s Goalkeeper of the Year after helping the Woodbridge Strikers win the league and Cup titles. A product of Toronto FC’s academy, Roberts signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC on April 10, 2012.

“Quillan is a player that will instantly make our goalkeeper group better,” said LAFC head coach Bob Bradley. “We are excited to have him here and officially welcome him to the Club.”

In 2014, Roberts would go on loan to USL’s Wilmington Hammerheads, where he appeared in 17 contests before rejoining the MLS club. A year later, Roberts joined Toronto FC II ahead of their inaugural campaign in USL, seeing action in 24 matches across two seasons.

Internationally, Roberts made his senior debut for Canada in a friendly against Puerto Rico on March 30, 2015. He also appeared in three matches during the 2011 U-17 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, registering a 0-2-1 record along the way. Roberts remains the only goalkeeper to score in the final stages of any FIFA tournament, tallying the second goal in Canada’s 2-2 draw against England in the group stage.
