LAFC, in conjunction with Concacaf, today announced the schedule for the home-and-away quarterfinal series of the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League against Liga MX side Cruz Azul.
LAFC will host Cruz Azul on Thursday, March 12 at Banc of California Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT. A week later, the two sides will meet again at the historic Estadio Azteca on Wednesday, March 18 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT.

The Black & Gold advanced to the quarterfinals of the region’s tournament after defeating Club León 3-0 on Thursday night at Banc of California Stadium. LAFC came into the match down 2-0 in the series but would complete the comeback with goals from Carlos Vela (2) and Diego Rossi.
Cruz Azul defeated Jamaican side Portmore United 6-1 on aggregate, including a 4-0 victory at Estadio Azteca on Tuesday night to go through to the next round. The Mexican side ranks second all-time with six titles, most recently defeating Toluca in the 2013-14 edition of the tournament, and is currently in fourth place in the league standings with a 4-2-1 record (13 points).
The winner of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League will face the champions of the world’s other five confederations, including the UEFA Champions League, in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup.

Per the competition regulations, the clubs who have advanced from Round of 16 matchups 1, 3, 5 and 7 will host the return leg quarterfinals. For the semifinals and finals, the competition bracket will determine the matchups and the clubs will be ranked as per the competition regulations to determine who will host the return leg matches.
The 2020 edition of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League is played in a direct elimination knockout format, with home-and-away matches in each of the four rounds (round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals). The winner of the elite club competition will earn the right to represent the Confederation in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup and will replace Rayados de Monterrey as the regional champion.
