Only one preseason match remains, as LAFC travels north to face Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday.
On the back of a 4-4 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps, LAFC heads to Papa Murphy’s Stadium still in search of its first win. Against Vancouver, Carlos Vela scored his first two goals in Black & Gold, going 90 minutes for the second consecutive match.
With three draws from three matches this preseason, coach Bob Bradley is taking a levelheaded approach to his team’s progress.
“Based upon my picture of what a good team and good football are all about, we have a lot of work to do,” Bradley said after Wednesday’s training session. “But I also look at moments in every game, and I see things that show signs of catching on. Positive signs.”
The hosts come into Sunday’s friendly following a 3-1 home loss to the Seattle Sounders on Feb. 15. At the helm of Republic FC is former Chivas USA midfielder Simon Elliot. The New Zealander takes over Sacramento after the team’s eighth place finish in USL’s Western Conference last season, and inherits a squad with former MLSers Adam Moffat and Jaime Villarreal.
LAFC’s final preseason match of 2018 kicks off at 2pm and can be streamed live via Sacramento Republic FC’s YouTube page.
