LAFC announced today that the Club has signed 18-year old defender Mohamed Traore, using the top spot in the MLS Waiver Order.
The native of Dakar, Senegal joins LAFC from the Soccer Institute of Montverde Academy in Orlando, FL. Traore arrived at Montverde at 14-years old, and as a senior in 2019, he registered seven assists to help Montverde to a 21-4-1 record. A central defender, Traore has appeared with Senegal’s U-17 National Team in 2019.
“Mohamed is an exciting, young player with a lot of potential,” LAFC EVP of Soccer Operations & General Manager John Thorrington said. “We believe getting him in our environment will help him continue to grow and develop and prepare him for success at this level.”
LAFC returns to regular season play on Saturday, August 22 versus the Galaxy. Kickoff at Banc of California Stadium is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on FOX, ESPN 710am, KFWB 980am.
